Always, as part of our holidays we explore the local area. We always come back to the same place on the East Coast and one of our favourite places is Danes Dyke.
Danes Dyke was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 2002 in recognition of its wildlife value and its importance to the local community. The reserve is part of one of the finest stretches of coastland on the east coast. This unique sea and cliff environment is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and its seabird colonies mark it as a Special Protection Area.
Whilst wondering through the woodlands and heading to the beach I love to spot mushrooms! My children are always very aware of me wondering off the beaten track and poking around in the undergrowth. This place is great for spotting all kinds of unusual varieties and although I am practically clueless on many varieties and never eat, I enjoy comparing photographs to reference books and reading and finding out information on the internet.
Molly and I are booked on to some CPD training in September on Fungi & Fruits and I'm looking forward to developing my knowledge and spending time with Molly doing the things that's we love the most! Walking, exploring and learning.
