Service Description

Join us for a unique experience at The Wilderness Studio's - a series of workshops blending art, nature and journaling, designed for teenagers (aged 12-16) and their parents (or other significant adult in their life) to enjoy together. These sessions are funded and made possible through support from Wakefield Council as part of Our Year - Wakefield District 2024 Although journaling can include articulating your feelings with words, art journaling includes expressing ourselves through many different media and visual methods. We will be using paints, sketching, collage, embroidery, learning new skills and techniques. The prompts can include topics around self discovery, but also gratitude and positivity, nature prompts, thought exercises and ‘silly’ art challenges designed to increase confidence and reduce barriers of expression and communication. Sessions will be 2 hours long and cost £15 for parent & child for all 3 sessions, which will be run monthly. All materials, a journal for each participant and light refreshments will be provided. Tickets will be very limited and small group sizes ensures a safe, unimposing and welcoming environment. Dates to be released soon! Please message us if you would like to find out first when tickets and dates are released! The closest parking is the council site on Back Wesley Street and is less than a 3 minute walk to our studio. The studio is up a set of stairs so we regret that we are not wheelchair accessible. Please contact us if this is an issue as we may be able to find alternative locations to run sessions from which are more accessible. Wilderness Adventures CIC is a not-for-profit community interest company. Any profit we funnel back into the company to further benefit the communities we serve. These sessions are funded by Wakefield Council as part of Our Year - Wakefield District 2024
